Wild Indigo \ Baptisia

Baptisia australis
Cold Tolerance: Zone 4a 4b 5a 5b 6a 6b 7a 7b 8a 8b 9a 9b
Light: Full Sun to Full Sun
Height: 3 Feet
Water: Normal
Soil: Sandy-Loamy
Common Uses:Ornamental

True blue, June flowers form on this, one of the longest lived perennials known. It even has delicious edible flowers (yes, we where surprised too!). Just strip flowers from stalks and pop into your mouth, green cap and all, for a fresh pea fix. After a short bloom, the unique foliage contrasts with neighbors all summer and then it turns purple after a freeze! Place it next to yellow conifers for excellent winter color. It's a nitrogen fixing legume to boot! $ 4.29

This slightly larger leaved willow was found grwing around Santa's workshop and was dropped off here last Christmas. This is a true Zone 1, Arctic, tundra plant that seems just as happy as a snowbird in the lower 48. What a great miniature ""Pussy Willow"". $ 5.29

This is one of the world's smallest willows. Tiniest of catkins appear with the crocus flowers, followed by the flat growing stems letting out their 1/2"" willow leaves. Perfect railroad addition in the ""mountains"" or as a sacred tree in the fairie garden. Train upright for a miniature ""Weeping Willow"" by the pond. $ 5.29
