We haven't seen the 3/8” cherry fruit yet we know it exists as we have witnessed the delicate pink flowers, which are made up of triangular petals and erect, yellow stamen. Google malpighia paniculata and you will see an amazing bonsai tree.

Miniature orange blossoms reveal a mild, orange-citrus flavor scattered in fruit and green salads. Dry for ""confetti"" flowers over baked potatoes. In containers, plant with Ginger Mint, Cardamon and True Ginger for a tropical feel. To our delight, it'll self-sow during growing season.

Mimulus minimus. Say that five times. You know the yellow trumpets on the large, annual flowers so take that image and shrink it, but keep the “blooms all summer” part. Although we list this as a hardy perennial, it acts more like a self-sowing annual but the most important tip is to keep it watered. Forget that once or twice and you've got singed edges.

Fluffy, upright posture with almost dusty green foliage clumsily describes this mildly apple scented mint. I most often use the soft, prickly leaves in my herb infused water, lemonade or tea (hot or cold).

Is it a stretch of your imagination? Oh ya, but there's a subtle banana flavor that's lovely all the same. Its soft, pale green leaf is great in fruit salads, yogurt, no bake cream pies and pineapple punch. Surprise your herbal friends with this new addition. Requires less sun but more water. ALMOST a pond plant.

Mint, Chocolate

Mentha piperata 'Chocolate'


When I eat a mint chocolate leaf, I get the sensation of a ""Peppermint Patty"" flavor. Imagine this dark leaved variety in brownies, ""Mud Cakes"", or, (Mark's favorite) morning coffee for a minty, chocolate flavor without the typical artificial after-taste. Squeeze and swirl it in hot coffee. Couldn't be easier.

The tiny as ""Baby Tears"", bright green leaves on this low groundcover smell exactly like “Creme de Menthe” liqueur. Be sure to plant between stepping stones in moist and, shaded areas only! It will die back during summer drought, therefore additional water is necessary. Not the most reliable perennial in Zone 5-6, so cover with evergreen boughs in winter.

A novelty spearmint variety with ruffled curly edges and a fresh, mild flavor for peas. This is the prettiest green leaf mint, in my opinion. Do NOT cram it in a corner as it's slightly susceptible to rust disease. With air movement, it's no problem.

This low groundcover Pennyroyal variety repels fleas and is wonderfully fragrant. Rub fresh leaves on pant legs before entering woods, to repel ticks and mosquitoes. Plant next to kennels or by paths where cats prowl. It seems to be hardier mixed in lawns. 4"" tall blue flower spikes bloom in summer. Avoid ingestion if pregnant! Don't use the essential oil of Pennyroyal on pets. Only use leaves.

Yellow and green striped leaves look their best in spring but hold variegation throughout summer. Prune back annually to rejuvenate appearance. Fine fruity, spicy flavor that combines well with any fruit, salmon, and Thai cooking. It is almost too pretty to eat!

This is one of the true Middle East varieties used for the authentic ""Tabbouli"" of bulgar, lemon juice, salt, pepper, plenty of parsley & mint, cool vegetables and maybe sunflower seeds. Two inch, very narrow, bluish-green leaves have a completely different look from other mints.

Bronzy green, round leaves make the best flavored drinking water. (just harvest, wash, squeeze, pop into a pitcher of water, refrigerate for 4-6 hours and enjoy). Refreshing citrus flavor for fruit salads, beef, and cookies. Marinate leaves or blue flowers in vinegar to eat or bathe in! Good flea and ant repellent.

Squaw vine, its common name is what drew us to this medicinal miniature resembling a mini vinca vine. Native American women made a tea from the slightly evergreen flavored leaves and berries during childbirth. The shiny, dark evergreen foliage and white flowers are nice but it's the red berries that really show up in a shady garden or even a terrarium.

Dark green, grassy leaves form tight little ""humocks"" that are often planted under ones favorite bonsai tree. This tough, cooperative little guy with white tinted, lavender flowers in summer is quite popular among railroaders who use it as mini pampas grass. Rare lavender flower spikes that produce the most amazing sapphire colored mini ""easter eggs"" shaped fruits.

A delicate and fine leaved "Mondo Grass" with pure white flower spikes throughout the year. Utilize this as a miniature "Pampas Grass" in a miniature garden setting. Every setting needs the linear, contrasting foliage of a grass.

Go bananas over the dark blue and white flowers that never quit blooming above glossy green, heart shaped leaves. The flowers remind me of a miniature Mimulus. Although it is a tropical groundcover that loves the heat, we have found it be very compact and rather slow to spread. It just wants to flower. Great for mini landscapes or zone 8 and warmer, rainforest, railroad gardens. A Florida native.

This tropical shrub looks like a tabletop gingko tree, suitable for bonsai and landscapes. Leaf and winter flowers (tiny cream colored buds) are added to tea blends to impart a vanilla flavor. Flowers form mini orange fruits only 1/8"". Ideal while playing a challenging game of ""Moujean"" (oriental board game) with friends.
