Blue flower spikes appear throughout the growing season. This miniature semi-evergreen shrub is extremely hardy and ideal for hedges and borders. It is easily clipped but be aware of bees- it's an important source of pollen for them. Overlook the bitter fragrance as it flavors heavy meats and liqueurs quite nicely, or so I have read.

Perhaps our Creator took the perennial, Spring blooming Candytuft, stuck it in the dryer too long and pulled out this shrunken version a mere 2"" high and a foot in diameter. Distribute these white bloomers in front of Summer & Fall flowers for a full season of changing colors.

Our neighbor, Mr. Johnson, a plant and train collector, gave us this beauty of carmine red, 3/4ö flowers on a carpet of emerald green, heart shaped leaves. Nearly every walk-in customer asked what it was. For months we weren't sure. After selling out, we tracked down the botanical name. Grows anywhere, including full shade, albeit with fewer flowers. Take a clue from its species: argentea which refers to silver or white. Artistic strokes of creamy white shimmer to almost silvery highlights in the summer sun while the airbrushed pink margins deepen in hue. With such natural beauty and tolerance of our dry winter home, I don't mind scooping it into a container for our pleasure in December after we've enjoyed it outdoors in the warm months.

Panda is an appropriate common name for this plant if you compare appearances. Both are fuzzy, gray, and adorable but the plant is unquestionably easier to care for indoors, where most gardeners need to move it, in the frigid months. More specifically, 3"" long leaves, with black dotted edging, radiate from a central stem that can branch with careful pruning. Partner this panda in the sun with a ""Wooster's Dwarf Bamboo"" nearby in light shade and see if anyone is clever enough to catch the connection.

Flowers: Middle Summer
Common Uses:Alpine Rockery, Bees, Borders, Cut Flower, Fragrant, Medicinal, Ornamental, Potpourri, Soap Making
After an ""Herb Companion"" article rated this the best overall variety, we had to offer it. The experts and we agree. 'Grosso' earned finest overall appearance, color, size, flavor and fragrance plus it's hardy to Ontario, Canada! Even three weeks after we cut off the first crop of flowers, the whole area still had the marvelous fragrance. Dry easily, to preserve appearance and fragrance for a long time. No wonder it's the most popular lavender in France by far.

Need a lavender that rarely stops flowering year around, has nice blue flowers and tastes great too? So what’s the catch? None really, except that it’s not hardy below Zone 9. But northerners can containerize plants indoors where it happily grows & flowers. The gray green color falls in between green and silver fern-leaf varieties.

""Thanks for the Memories""The real thing! Stunning full white variegation. Highly ornamental, feathery, light leaaves with greamy white streaks and a touch of green. Beautiful blue buds enliven our summers. Folige will revert to more green, which should be removed. Tolerates morning shade, but flowers will become more whitish and is an O.K. house plant in a sunny window. Flowers: Late Summer to Middle Summer
Common Uses:Baskets, Container, Culinary, Edible Flowers, Ornamental
This flamboyant specimen is not for the weak of heart. Mixed colors of red, yellow or orange compliment round, green leaves, swirled in random yellow streaks. Everybody's favorite for mixed containers. Highly ornamental, even when it isn't in bloom. Flowers are prized for their sweet peppery flavor. Green seed pods are ""radish"" hot!

This plant was a gift for a gentleman in Castalia, OH whom we could never find again. After having gifted it to a few friends, it has now entered the hardy cactus circles as ""Mulberry Creek"". It flowers every year during the third week of June- just before our HerbFair. It needs grreat drainage to prevent winter rotting, but is hardy to Zone 4!
